The Picasso School is a small-scale private school for children from groups 3 to 8 of primary school. Due to the small scale – a maximum of 12 children per class – it is an excellent opportunity, especially for children with an average IQ who are behind in reading, arithmetic, and/or spelling, to catch up and perhaps even develop a head start. Each teacher has at least a post-HBO education and is experienced in catching up on learning gaps.
In the morning, the focus is mainly on the basic subjects of reading, arithmetic, and spelling. Due to the small scale, it is possible to develop a tailor-made program for each child, based on sound pedagogical-didactic research. During this pedagogical-didactic research, we look for the academic cause of the learning problem. Based on this, a learning plan with concrete goals is drawn up. Due to the small scale, all teachers also have the time to properly prepare and evaluate the lessons.
The afternoon program will largely consist of visual arts, theater, and martial arts. The goal is to develop creativity in children, a so-called "growth mindset," and self-confidence. These subjects are taught by specialized teachers, in close collaboration with the morning program team.
Of course, from group 5 onwards, children will also receive lessons in other subjects, namely: geography, history, and biology, where possible in conjunction with the theater class and visual arts.
Our vision is based on two key pillars: on the one hand, a strong focus on mastering pure technical skills in core subjects, learning how to apply them, and applying them effectively. On the other hand, we believe that learning behavior, a growth mindset, and creative thinking are essential components of education. Therefore, the morning is dedicated to core subjects, while the afternoon focuses primarily on developing learning behavior, fostering a growth mindset, and encouraging creative thinking.
The mission of the Picasso School is, above all, to teach the core subjects of reading, math, and spelling. Additionally, children will leave the school equipped with effective learning behavior, a growth mindset, and creative thinking skills.
In this way, they will be prepared to continue their development and become responsible citizens of society.
The Picasso School is intended for children aged 6 to 14 in regular primary education.
We aim to offer an alternative for parents who place great importance on the proper development of their children.
